Asian American Alliance Inc. and the Indiana Commission for Women are set to host an International Women's Day (IWD) event featuring a four-part series to empower girls and women through Entrepreneurship, Education, Excellence, and Empowerment.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place on March 6 at the Indiana Government South Building Auditorium.

The theme for this year is #GiveToGain, and it aims to encourage a mindset of generosity and collaboration, emphasizing on the power of reciprocity and support.
Speaking about the upcoming event, the event chair for the International Women’s Day Conference, Rupal Thanawala, said,
“As individuals, giving support means calling out stereotypes, challenging discrimination, questioning bias, celebrating women's success, and more.”
“Whether through donations, knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women's advancement helps create a more supportive and interconnected world,” she added.
The event will open with registration, breakfast, networking, professional Headshots, and vendor exhibits, followed by the welcome address that will include Mike Braun, Governor, State of Indiana, J. Philip Clay, Executive Director, Indiana Civil Rights Commission, and Rupal Thanawala, CEO, Trident Systems (IWD Event Chair).
Melea VanOstrand, reporter, WISH-TV, will be the emcee for the event.
Maureen Braun, First Lady, State of Indiana, will lead the keynote presentation on ‘Accelerating Progress Through Entrepreneurship’, while Thanawala will speak on ‘Empowerment - Name of the Game, Artificial Intelligence (AI).’
A discussion on ‘Investing in Women Advancement Across Leadership, Philanthropy, Finance and the Arts,’ will be conducted by the Excellence Panel, which includes moderator Ashley Moore, Sr. Manager Talent Acquisition, Republic Airways, and Christina Moungey, Indiana & Kentucky Region Manager, JP Morgan Chase.
Judith B. Thomas, President & CEO, Indy Arts Council, and Ahmed Young, President & CEO, Indianapolis Foundation, are also part of the panel.
A talk on ‘Transforming Education in Indiana,’ moderated by Lesley Weidenbener, Editor, Indianapolis Business Journal, will involve Katie Jenner, Indiana Secretary of Education, Indiana Department of Education.
Thanawala will be delivering the closing remarks, while the event will conclude with the clicking of the group picture and lunch.
The event is expected to have about 350 guests and 20 vendors showcasing their services and products.
